Winter has arrived in the South West, and with it the usual mix of coughs, colds and flu. Here is what is happening at the clinic this month and a few reminders to help you and your family stay well.
Flu vaccinations available now Influenza vaccines for the 2026 season are in stock. Eligible patients — including children under 5, adults over 65, pregnant women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and those with certain chronic conditions — can receive the vaccine free under the National Immunisation Program. Bookings are open with our practice nurses; call reception or book online through Healthengine.
When to see the doctor Most coughs and colds settle with rest, fluids and time. Please book an appointment if you experience:
- Fever lasting more than 3 days
- Shortness of breath or chest pain
- A cough that is getting worse rather than better after a week
- Symptoms in an infant under 3 months, or in anyone with a chronic illness
Saturday clinic Our Saturday clinic continues to run 8:30am – 12:30pm for urgent same-day concerns. Please call ahead where possible.
Stay warm, stay connected Winter can be a tougher time for older adults and those living alone. A short visit, a phone call or a shared meal makes a real difference — to physical health and to mood.
If you or someone you love is struggling, please book a long appointment so we can talk properly. You can also call Lifeline on 13 11 14 at any hour.
